As a yoga and meditation instructor, I’m passionate about helping you grow, heal and evolve in health, fitness and life so you can comfortably do all the things you want in life.

When someone walks into my class...

They could be having the best day of their life or could be carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, feeling tired, stressed, anxious and/or overwhelmed.

On the yoga mat we are forced to look within, let go of what’s happening outside of us and build from the inside out.

By the time class is over, we have all evolved, becoming a completely different being. Students experience healing on the mat and leave feeling strong, and capable of handling anything the universe throws their way, if nothing more they leave with a sense of peace, strength and optimism.

I know that yoga and meditation is life-changing. You may think it’s just a fitness class, but it’s actually a practice that can transform your entire mindset and outlook on life, beyond the mat.

Moving with strength and grace didn’t come naturally for me

In fact, I never even wanted to try yoga or meditation because I thought it was too slow. Who has time to slow down, sit still and breathe? Certainly not me.

As a certified personal trainer, cycling instructor, former division 1 college basketball player, amateur boxer and road racer, I thrived on high-intensity, not slow movements.

When a friend asked me to join her in a Bikram hot yoga class on my day off, I was reluctant, but decided to give it a try anyway.

In that 90-min class…

I was shocked and astonished that I couldn’t perform the most basic movements.

I couldn’t sit with my legs crossed; I couldn’t pivot my feet; and I couldn’t put all of my weight on my left leg (or do much on the left side of my body thanks to four previous knee surgeries).

I really struggled to get through that class. The room was hot, I couldn’t get my body to move the way I wanted it to, and I was questioning, “what am I doing here?”

But after the class, I remember thinking, “wow, that was tough, but I made progress”. I felt inspired to come back and motivated to heal my body. It became abundantly clear that I needed yoga to fix my imbalances.

Since that class, yoga and meditation became a regular practice in my own life

It provided me with physical, mental and spiritual healing that I didn’t even know I needed. After about 9 years practicing as a student, for my own well-being, I decided it was time to share the gift of yoga with the world and I began teaching.

Professional Yoga Training & Experience

I completed my yoga and meditation training at Pure Yoga in New York City in 2016 with Kay Kay Clivio and Yogi Charu and have continued my studies with D.V. Sridhar, following a lineage of many, including: T.Krishnamacharya, Ana Forrest, Baron Baptiste, John Friend and Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, Shri K. Patta, and the Saraswati lineage.

Eventually, I reduced my one-on-one high intensity fitness offerings and settled on my passion; teaching primarily yoga and meditation.

Today, I teach yoga & meditation classes in person for Equinox and ondemand for popular apps like Aaptiv and Equinox +, as well as weekly live classes via my Virtual Studio. I also teach yoga and meditation classes for the After School Enrichment program in my local community.

I have a “Sleep Better” Meditation program on Amazon’s Audible and audio yoga and meditation classes on Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music.

I’ve also been featured on popular tv shows and magazines and have worked with celebrities including; Alicia Keys, Jordan Sparks, Brooklyn Decker, H.E.R, Steven Lang and more.

Professional Bio

Jade Alexis is passionate about yoga, health and fitness. She has an innate desire to help individuals transform their bodies, calm their minds and enhance their lives. Jade is a leading instructor and fitness trainer based in New York City teaching for Pure Yoga, Equinox, Aaptiv and Mercedes House.

Jade has over 15 years of experience working with individuals to help them grow, heal and evolve in health, fitness and life. Jade has worked with several television and film personalities as well as athletes, including: Brandy Norwood, Brooklyn Decker, Jennifer Garner, Alicia Keys, Steven Lang and Jordin Sparks.

Jade has been published in WebMD, Shape, Marie Claire, as well as several online publications. You may have seen Jade on Dr. Oz, Exercise TV, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, and NY1. She is a former Fitness Magazine Advisory Board member & Reebok Global Ambassador.

Jade is an avid “yogi” (Jade’s yoga journey), leading audio yoga and meditation classes with Aaptiv and Audible, as well as offering yoga and meditation classes on iTunes, YouTube, Spotify and Amazon. Jade also leads a children yoga program helping our future leaders evolve into magnificent beings.

Jade is a certified Yoga Instructor registered with The Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500HR and Certified through the National Association of Sports Medicine. She is an advocate of functional movement, primarily using body weight for resistance and offering general sports conditioning, boxing, yoga and meditation instruction.

Jade’s athletic prowess began early, beginning with ballet as a toddler to high school basketball and competitive tennis in Canada. She then played Division 1 basketball at Duquesne University, where she completed her MBA. An interest in boxing led Jade to train as an unattached fighter for three years, competing in the NYC Golden Gloves.
